Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Local Authority Senior Center Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and success of our senior center’s daily activities and programs during day hours. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing various services and events, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for all participants. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily operations of the senior center, including scheduling, program logistics, and facility usage.
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse range of recreational, educational, and wellness programs and activities for senior participants.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for various center activities and events.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, program evaluations, and other relevant data.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for seniors, families, and community partners regarding center programs and services.
- Manage program budgets, procure supplies, and track expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to senior services and facility operations.
- Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging active participation and social interaction among seniors.
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, particularly older adults
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Recreation Management, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in program coordination or management, preferably in a senior services or community-based setting
- Knowledge of local resources and services available to seniors in Cranston, RI
- CPR and First Aid certification
