Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Caerphilly. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a variety of challenging projects, spanning commercial, residential, and industrial sectors across Wales and the wider UK. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from conceptual design through to construction support, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative and robust structural solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis and design using relevant software and codes of practice (Eurocodes, British Standards).
- Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and specifications for various structural elements (concrete, steel, timber, masonry).
- Develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions for diverse projects.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, M&E engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Attend client and design team meetings, representing the company professionally.
- Perform site visits for surveys, inspections, and construction stage support.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proven experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and design codes.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA Engineer, Robot Structural Analysis).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers, or actively working towards it.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit Structures).
- Knowledge of Welsh building regulations and local planning policies.
