Job Description

Join our dedicated finance team as an Entry Level Municipal Fines & Fees Collector. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals new to the finance sector to start a rewarding career within local government. We are looking for motivated individuals with strong communication skills and a commitment to public service. Full training will be provided to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to excel in this role. You will be responsible for the collection of municipal fines and fees, ensuring compliance with local regulations and providing support to residents regarding payment options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively contact individuals and businesses regarding overdue municipal fines and fees.
  • Communicate payment options, negotiate payment plans, and provide accurate information regarding penalties and appeals processes.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection activities and interactions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies and customer queries.
  • Adhere strictly to all data protection regulations and council policies.
  • Prepare and process necessary documentation related to collections.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience (any field).
  • Understanding of local government functions (beneficial but not required).
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
