Charles Schwab is excited to offer an entry-level Trainee position for a Risk Management Data Analyst in our Denver office. This is a unique opportunity to join a global financial leader, where you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to develop expertise in risk data analysis, regulatory compliance, and financial modeling. No prior experience in risk management is required; we are seeking candidates with strong analytical aptitude, a passion for learning, and a foundational understanding of data principles. You will be instrumental in supporting our risk teams by collecting, processing, and analyzing critical data to identify potential risks and ensure the stability and integrity of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program covering financial products, risk methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the collection, validation, and maintenance of risk-related data from various internal and external sources.
- Support senior analysts in developing and implementing data models and tools for risk assessment and reporting.
- Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies relevant to market, credit, and operational risks.
- Prepare summary reports and presentations of risk data findings for internal stakeholders.
- Learn to utilize specialized software and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) for data manipulation and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and contribute to data quality initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk data management processes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas).
- Basic understanding of database concepts and a willingness to learn SQL.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to new challenges.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn about financial markets and risk management principles.
