Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Shipping Crate Builder (Mate) to join our team at our Leyton facility. This entry-level position is perfect for someone keen to learn a trade and become proficient in woodworking and the safe operation of nail guns. You will be instrumental in the construction of bespoke wooden crates and packaging solutions designed to protect valuable and delicate goods during transit. Full training will be provided to ensure you master the necessary skills and adhere to our strict safety protocols and quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork in a dynamic warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior crate builders in the measurement, cutting, and assembly of wooden crates and pallets.
- Safely operate pneumatic nail guns and other woodworking tools under supervision after receiving training.
- Follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions to construct packaging solutions to exact requirements.
- Inspect finished crates for quality, durability, and adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools are properly cared for and stored.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of carpentry or woodworking principles (or strong willingness to learn)
- Ability to use hand tools and tape measures accurately
