Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Actuary or Actuarial Analyst to join our dynamic team in Austin, TX. This role is crucial for developing and maintaining actuarial models, conducting in-depth analysis of risk, and contributing to strategic business decisions across various lines of business, including P&C, life, and health insurance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong quantitative background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen interest in the insurance industry. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and validate actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial forecasting.
- Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, evaluate risks, and inform business strategies.
- Prepare actuarial reports and presentations, communicating complex findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with underwriting, product development, finance, and IT teams on cross-functional projects.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and ensure compliance with actuarial standards of practice.
- Participate in the peer review process of actuarial work and contribute to process improvements.
- Advance professional development through continuous learning and pursuit of actuarial designations.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and advanced Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Solid understanding of actuarial principles and insurance products.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of at least 1-2 actuarial exams (e.g., SOA, CAS).
- Master's degree in a quantitative field.
- Experience with actuarial modeling software (e.g., Emblem, ResQ, Prophet).
- Familiarity with database tools (SQL).
- Prior internship or professional experience in an actuarial setting.
