Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Traffic Sign Installation Laborer to join our Highways team. This is an essential outdoor role within the Council, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of traffic signs throughout the vibrant city of Leeds. You will be working as part of a close-knit team, contributing directly to public safety and the efficient flow of traffic. This physically demanding role requires a commitment to safety, teamwork, and an eagerness to contribute to public service. You will be involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various traffic signs across Leeds, working in all weather conditions. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates reliability and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely install, repair, and maintain traffic signs, including regulatory, warning, and informational signs, in accordance with specified standards and designs.
- Assist with the preparation of work sites, including setting up traffic management systems and ensuring public and team safety.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from vehicles.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Perform general laboring duties as required to support the team's objectives.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake routine checks and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and supporting colleagues to complete tasks efficiently.

- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Full UK Driving License (Category B) is highly desirable.

- Possession of a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
- Basic knowledge of road traffic signs and regulations.
- Experience operating small plant machinery or power tools.
