Job Description
Join our dynamic delivery team as a Furniture Delivery Porter (Mate) in Gulfport, MS. This role is crucial for ensuring our customers receive their new furniture safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for loading, transporting, and assembling furniture, working closely with a driver to navigate routes and provide excellent customer service. This physically demanding role offers the reward of direct customer interaction and the potential for great tips for outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the delivery driver in safely loading, unloading, and transporting furniture to customer homes or businesses.
- Carefully maneuver furniture through various spaces, protecting both the merchandise and customer property.
- Assemble furniture items on-site according to manufacturer instructions, ensuring stability and customer satisfaction.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, answering questions and addressing concerns professionally.
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, including delivery receipts and service reports.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of delivery vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle and work area.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift and move heavy furniture items (75+ lbs) with a partner.
- Strong physical stamina and endurance.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a delivery, moving, or warehouse role.
- Familiarity with the Gulfport, MS area and surrounding regions.
