Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tooling Engineer to join our dynamic team in Southport. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of tooling used in our manufacturing processes. This role requires a strong understanding of tooling principles, CAD/CAM software, and hands-on experience in a precision manufacturing environment. You will play a crucial role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest quality standards for our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize tooling for new and existing products using CAD/CAM software.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling issues.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and quality teams to ensure tooling meets specifications and production needs.
- Manage tooling inventory, maintenance schedules, and repair processes.
- Evaluate and recommend new tooling technologies and materials to improve efficiency and quality.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new product tooling requirements.
- Ensure all tooling complies with safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tooling design, development, or maintenance.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam).
- Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, CNC machining).
- Understanding of materials science and heat treatment processes relevant to tooling.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or advanced certifications in tooling or manufacturing.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with FEA simulation software.
- Project management experience in a tooling environment.
