Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Environmental Engineer to join our growing team in Swansea. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering environmental solutions for a diverse range of projects, contributing to sustainable development and regulatory compliance across various sectors. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from initial assessment and planning to implementation and monitoring. Key Responsibilities
- Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and strategic environmental assessments (SEAs) for infrastructure and development projects.
- Preparing and managing environmental permit applications and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Undertaking site investigations, data collection, and analysis to identify environmental risks and opportunities.
- Developing sustainable environmental management plans and mitigation strategies.
- Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Preparing detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Contributing to tender preparation and business development activities.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and best practices.
Required Skills
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in environmental consultancy or a similar field.
- Proven experience with UK environmental regulations and policy frameworks.
- Proficiency in relevant environmental software, such as GIS or environmental modelling tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Working towards or already holding professional chartership (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).
- Experience with specific environmental specialisms such as contaminated land, waste management, or water quality.
- Proficiency in Welsh language is an advantage but not essential.
- Experience working on projects within the Welsh context.
