Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) to join our dynamic Mental Health Services team in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to provide high-quality mental health care within the community setting. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of individuals with complex mental health needs, delivering evidence-based interventions and working collaboratively with service users, their families, and multidisciplinary teams. We offer a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, formulating care plans in collaboration with service users.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including medication management, psychological support, and crisis intervention.
  • Manage a defined caseload of individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
  • Liaise effectively with GPs, social workers, housing associations, and other community resources.
  • Act as a key worker, coordinating care and advocating for service users' needs.
  • Participate in risk assessment and management planning, ensuring the safety of service users and the wider community.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of mental health services through active participation in team meetings, supervision, and training.

Required Skills

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Mental Health Nurse.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in mental health nursing, with demonstrable experience in a community or inpatient setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong assessment, care planning, and risk management abilities.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a car for community visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in a relevant mental health specialism (e.g., CBT, Dual Diagnosis).
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations and complex presentations.
  • Knowledge of local mental health legislation and policy frameworks in Northern Ireland.
