Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and vigilant Public Transit Security Officers to join our team in East Kilbride. This is a critical role focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for passengers and staff across our public transport network. You will be responsible for patrolling transit facilities, deterring criminal activity, responding to incidents, and providing assistance as needed. This position requires shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. Full training on transit-specific security protocols will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of transit stations, platforms, and vehicles to ensure passenger safety and security.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and respond to alarms or suspicious activities.
- Deter and detect criminal activity, vandalism, and anti-social behaviour.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, disturbances, and security breaches.
- Provide assistance and directions to passengers, offering excellent customer service.
- Enforce company policies and regulations, and assist law enforcement when required.
- Complete detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily activities.
- Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues, management, and the public.
Required Skills
- SIA License (Door Supervisor or Security Guard)
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Basic first aid knowledge (certification preferred, but training can be provided)
- Physical fitness required for patrolling and standing for long periods
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a similar public-facing role
- Experience working in a public transport environment
- Conflict resolution training
- CCTV operator license
