Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Federal Financial Aid Processor to join our Education Department at our Truro campus. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of federal financial aid applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and institutional policies. You will serve as a key point of contact for students regarding their financial aid inquiries, guiding them through the application process and explaining eligibility criteria. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to student success. You will work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process federal financial aid applications, including grants, loans, and scholarships, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify student eligibility for federal aid programs according to established guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal financial aid policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance and support to students and their families regarding financial aid options, application processes, and required documentation.
  • Reconcile financial aid disbursements with student accounts and liaise with the finance department to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage and maintain confidential student financial aid records in compliance with data protection laws.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to financial aid programs.
  • Prepare and submit required federal and institutional reports.
  • Collaborate with admissions, academic advising, and student services departments to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial aid processing or a related administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Proven understanding of federal financial aid regulations and compliance standards (e.g., Title IV).
  • Proficiency in using financial aid management software and student information systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration, or Education.
  • Experience with specific financial aid systems used in the UK.
  • Previous experience at a further or higher education institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
