Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Loading Dock Assistant to join our Abilene team for early morning shifts. This vital role ensures the smooth and efficient movement of goods through our loading dock, from receiving incoming shipments to preparing outgoing deliveries. You will be an integral part of our logistics operation, helping to maintain organization, safety, and productivity. This is a fast-paced environment where teamwork and attention to detail are paramount. Shifts start early, allowing you to finish your workday by noon, leaving your afternoons free!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers using manual and mechanical equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Sort, organize, and prepare incoming and outgoing shipments accurately.
- Verify contents against shipping manifests and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment on the loading dock.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Operate basic material handling equipment safely and efficiently after training.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all daily tasks are completed on schedule.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to attendance.
- Basic communication skills.
- Understanding and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with basic scanning or inventory systems.
