Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Master Distiller / Blender to lead our production team and spearhead the creation of new and existing spirits. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of distillation processes, a keen palate for blending, and a passion for crafting high-quality whiskey, gin, vodka, and other specialty spirits. The Master Distiller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production from grain to glass, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to our brand standards. This is an on-site position in Fayetteville, AR, and a comprehensive relocation package is available to support your move.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize all distillation, fermentation, and aging processes for a diverse portfolio of spirits.
- Develop and implement new spirit recipes and innovative product lines from conception to market.
- Lead and mentor a team of distillers and production staff, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee inventory management of raw materials, finished goods, and barrel stock.
- Ensure strict adherence to all TTB regulations, quality control standards, and safety protocols.
- Conduct sensory evaluation and blending for all spirits to achieve desired flavor profiles and consistency.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and executive teams on product development and brand strategy.
- Maintain all distillery equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Manage the barrel program, including selection, filling, aging, and emptying.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a distillery production leadership role.
- Proven expertise in grain-to-glass spirit production, including fermentation, distillation (pot and/or column stills), and aging.
- Exceptional palate and blending skills with a strong understanding of flavor profiles and sensory analysis.
- Strong knowledge of TTB regulations and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a production team.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Fermentation Science, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Fermentation Science or related field.
- Experience with multiple spirit categories (e.g., whiskey, gin, rum, brandy).
- Certification from a recognized distilling institute or program.
- Proficiency in distillery management software and inventory systems.
- Prior experience managing a barrel aging program.
