Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to a diverse range of projects across commercial, residential, and rural property sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys, preparing reports, managing projects, and providing expert advice to our valued clients. You will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding assignments, often independently, demonstrating excellent technical skills and client-facing abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed building surveys including pre-acquisition, condition, and defect analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and schedules of dilapidations for landlords and tenants.
- Oversee and manage building projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Provide expert professional advice on property and construction matters to a diverse client base.
- Undertake measured surveys, produce drawings, and administer building contracts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building regulations, health and safety standards, and legislation.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other professionals.
- Contribute to business development activities and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Building Surveyor (minimum 3 years).
- Strong technical knowledge of building pathology and construction methods.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Sound understanding of relevant building regulations and legislation.
Preferred Qualifications
- MRICS chartership or working towards it.
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- Experience with dilapidations and party wall matters.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices.
