Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant Intern to join our Corporate Law team for academic credit. This on-site internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience within a leading law firm, working alongside experienced legal professionals. This role is designed for students seeking to fulfill academic requirements, providing hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a busy corporate legal department. No prior professional legal experience is required; we are looking for candidates eager to learn and contribute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist corporate paralegals and lawyers with the preparation and filing of legal documents, including incorporations, amendments, and corporate resolutions.
  • Conduct legal research and gather information to support corporate transactions and compliance matters.
  • Organize and maintain corporate minute books and other client files.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and handling phone inquiries.
  • Proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, and adherence to legal formatting.
  • Assist with due diligence processes for corporate transactions.
  • Learn and utilize various legal software and databases relevant to corporate law.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program.
  • Strong academic record with an interest in corporate law.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and able to take direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office environment (not necessarily legal).
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
