Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Museum Education & Docent Intern to join our dynamic team in Falmouth. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum education, visitor engagement, and program delivery. You will work closely with our education department to develop and facilitate engaging learning experiences for diverse audiences, from school groups to general visitors. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about history, culture, and public outreach, looking to embark on a career in museums or informal education. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs and workshops for various age groups.
- Conduct engaging tours (docent duties) for visitors, interpreting museum collections and exhibitions.
- Support the education team with administrative tasks, material preparation, and program logistics.
- Contribute to the creation of interpretive materials and educational resources.
- Engage with museum visitors, answer questions, and enhance their overall experience.
- Help facilitate interactive exhibits and activities.
- Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for history, culture, and maritime heritage.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Museum Studies, History, Education, Marine Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience volunteering or working in an educational setting or museum.
- Experience with public speaking or presentations.
- Knowledge of Cornish maritime history.
