Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our Canal & Waterway Maintenance Crew. This is an essential outdoor government role focused on preserving the beauty and functionality of Davenport’s aquatic infrastructure. As a member of our crew, you will perform a variety of tasks crucial to ensuring our canals and waterways remain clean, safe, and accessible. This position requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to public service. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and removal of debris, litter, and vegetation from canals and waterways.
- Operate and maintain various hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of canal banks, drainage systems, and related structures.
- Participate in shoreline stabilization projects and erosion control efforts.
- Monitor water quality and report any unusual conditions or pollution.
- Support emergency response efforts related to waterway blockages or overflows.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
