Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Births, Deaths & Marriages Clerk to join our team in Geelong. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate processing, verification, and management of vital records pertaining to births, deaths, and marriages across Victoria. This position requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and a commitment to providing excellent service to the public while upholding strict confidentiality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify applications for birth, death, and marriage certificates and registrations.
- Perform accurate data entry and update records within the Registry's database systems.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding registration procedures and certificate applications via phone, email, and in-person.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all personal information and records.
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of official documents and certificates.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to vital record management.
- Handle payments and manage financial transactions accurately.
- Undertake general administrative duties as required to support Registry operations.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative, clerical, or data entry role, particularly within a government or legal context.
- Knowledge of relevant Victorian legislation pertaining to births, deaths, and marriages.
- Experience with records management systems or databases.
- A Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or a related field.
