Job Description

Mister Sparky Electrician of Gaithersburg is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for an EV Charging Station Installer (Apprentice) position. No prior experience in EV charging or electrical work is required – we believe in investing in our team! This is an incredible opportunity for a dedicated individual to receive comprehensive, hands-on training to become a skilled EV charging station professional. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, learning the ins and outs of installation, maintenance, and safety protocols for cutting-edge EV technology. Due to high demand, this role offers stability and significant career growth potential. A company van will be provided for travel to job sites after your initial training period.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead technicians with the installation, testing, and maintenance of various EV charging stations (Level 1, 2, and DC Fast Chargers) for residential and commercial clients.
- Learn and adhere to all electrical codes, safety regulations, and company installation standards.
- Prepare job sites, including light trenching, conduit installation, and wiring.
- Perform basic electrical tasks under supervision, such as connecting wiring, mounting components, and configuring systems.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues and assist with system diagnostics.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing professional and courteous service.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs to stay updated on EV technology and best practices.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and strong willingness to learn new technical skills.
- Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with hand and power tools (or willingness to quickly learn).
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a hands-on trade or construction environment (even non-electrical).
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts or a genuine interest in electricity and renewable energy.
- Enrollment or completion of a vocational/technical program related to electrical work, automotive, or HVAC.
