Job Description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? CareChoice Australia is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Community Care Offsiders. This is a unique and rewarding role where you will provide essential support to clients in their homes and communities across Brisbane. As a Community Care Offsider, you’ll be on the road, traveling to various locations to assist clients with a range of daily activities, ensuring they maintain their independence and quality of life. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for empathetic individuals looking to start a career in community care. Your dedication will directly contribute to the well-being of our clients, offering companionship, practical assistance, and a friendly face.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including showering, dressing, and grooming, as per individual care plans.
  • Assist with medication prompting and management.
  • Support clients with domestic tasks such as light cleaning, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and community activities.
  • Engage clients in meaningful conversations and provide companionship.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the care team regarding client needs and progress.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and care standards.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using equipment as required.

Required Skills

  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to undertake required training and certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR).
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check and obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a caregiving, support, or customer service role is an advantage but not essential.
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (or working towards).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
