Job Description
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? CareChoice Australia is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Community Care Offsiders. This is a unique and rewarding role where you will provide essential support to clients in their homes and communities across Brisbane. As a Community Care Offsider, you’ll be on the road, traveling to various locations to assist clients with a range of daily activities, ensuring they maintain their independence and quality of life. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for empathetic individuals looking to start a career in community care. Your dedication will directly contribute to the well-being of our clients, offering companionship, practical assistance, and a friendly face.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including showering, dressing, and grooming, as per individual care plans.
- Assist with medication prompting and management.
- Support clients with domestic tasks such as light cleaning, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and community activities.
- Engage clients in meaningful conversations and provide companionship.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the care team regarding client needs and progress.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and care standards.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using equipment as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Willingness to undertake required training and certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR).
- Ability to pass a National Police Check and obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving, support, or customer service role is an advantage but not essential.
- Certificate III in Individual Support (or working towards).
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
