Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Support Technician to join our team, providing essential multi-site IT support within the education sector. This role involves travelling to various educational institutions (schools, colleges) to resolve IT issues, maintain systems, and support staff and students. You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth technological operations, enabling effective learning and administration. This is a dynamic role requiring a flexible approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for technology within an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line IT support, both on-site and remotely, to staff and students across multiple educational sites.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware (desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, projectors) and software applications.
- Perform routine network troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi connectivity, basic server checks, and patch management.
- Administer user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and Office 365 environments.
- Respond to IT support tickets efficiently, diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and health checks on IT equipment.
- Assist with IT asset management, including inventory tracking and procurement.
- Provide basic user training and guidance on IT systems and applications.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and resolutions.
- Collaborate with central IT teams and external vendors as needed.
- Ensure IT systems comply with relevant security and safeguarding policies within the education sector.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Experience with basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, DNS).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between sites.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an IT support role within the education sector.
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation).
- Experience with Apple macOS or iOS devices.
- Familiarity with virtual learning environments (VLEs) like Moodle or Google Classroom.
- Knowledge of MDM solutions for mobile devices.
