Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team based in Port Augusta, SA. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of our critical IT systems and infrastructure. This includes managing servers, networks, cloud platforms, and ensuring the highest levels of system availability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of IT infrastructure best practices and be proactive in identifying and implementing solutions to enhance our operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Administer virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Implement and manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Ensure data backup and recovery procedures are robust and regularly tested.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support applications and services.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures meticulously.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical incidents as required, ensuring system uptime.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in system administration and IT security.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration (2012 R2, 2016, 2019).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., MCSA, CCNA, CompTIA Server+, ITIL Foundation).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS).
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Knowledge of IT security principles and best practices.
