Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Wildlife Biologist / Ecologist to join our dynamic team in Worcester. This role offers an incredible opportunity to contribute to diverse conservation and development projects across the UK and internationally. You will be instrumental in conducting ecological surveys, analyzing data, preparing detailed reports, and contributing to the development of effective mitigation and enhancement strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive ecological and wildlife surveys, including phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species surveys (e.g., bats, great crested newts, birds), and botanical surveys.
  • Perform data analysis, interpretation of survey findings, and assess potential impacts of development projects on biodiversity.
  • Prepare high-quality ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies in accordance with national and international legislation and best practice.
  • Provide ecological advice and recommendations to clients, project managers, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into broader project designs.
  • Assist with the preparation of license applications for protected species where necessary.
  • Stay informed of relevant environmental legislation, policies, and advancements in ecological practice.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of UK and European wildlife legislation and planning policy.
  • Experience in conducting ecological fieldwork and data collection.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Full valid driving license and access to a vehicle (or willingness to obtain one, with support for driving lessons if needed for sponsorship reasons).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant ecological discipline.
  • Protected species survey licenses (e.g., Bat Level 1, GCN Level 1).
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Membership in a professional body such as CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management).
  • Experience with environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes.
