Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist / Climate Scientist to join our dynamic environmental consulting team in Gatineau, Quebec. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional passionate about understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change and weather patterns. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse range of projects, providing expert analysis, modeling, and strategic advice to clients in both public and private sectors. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct meteorological and climatological data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
- Develop and apply climate models to assess future climate scenarios and their potential impacts.
- Perform climate change vulnerability assessments and risk analyses for various projects and regions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
- Provide expert meteorological and climate science input to interdisciplinary project teams.
- Consult with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored environmental solutions.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client engagement.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements, methodologies, and regulatory changes in meteorology and climate science.
Required Skills
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in meteorological or climate consulting, research, or a related industry.
- Proficiency with meteorological and climate modeling software and tools (e.g., WRF, RCMs, Python, R).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., EP) or eligibility for registration in Quebec.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data analysis.
- Familiarity with climate policy, adaptation, and resilience strategies.
- Experience in client interaction and project management.
