Job Description
We are seeking a talented and efficient Short Order Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team for weekend shifts at our bustling Fitzroy location. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, delicious food promptly. You will be a key player in ensuring our customers have an exceptional dining experience, focusing on breakfast and lunch items during our busiest periods. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast and lunch items according to company recipes and standards.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.).
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean and sanitised throughout the shift.
- Manage food orders and prepare dishes in a timely manner during peak hours.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as required.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude even under pressure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Short Order Cook or similar role.
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and punctuality for weekend shifts.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a busy cafe or restaurant setting.
- Flexibility to cover additional shifts if needed.
