Job Description
Are you a compassionate and empathetic individual looking to make a meaningful difference in your community? Shannex is seeking dedicated Community Care Assistants to join our growing team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. In this vital role, you will provide essential care and support to clients in their homes, helping them maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we offer flexible hours tailored to your availability, and your travel time and mileage between client homes will be paid. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalized assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Assist clients with medication reminders and simple health monitoring as per care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in conversation and activities.
- Assist clients with errands, appointments, and community outings as needed.
- Accurately document care provided and report any changes in client condition or concerns to the care team.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure the well-being of clients and self.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between client homes.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A genuine desire to help and support vulnerable individuals.
- Completion of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving role, either professional or personal.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of basic hygiene and infection control practices.
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with diverse needs.
- Completion of a CCA (Continuing Care Assistant) program or equivalent.
