Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and passionate Head Chef to lead our dynamic kitchen team at Malmaison Liverpool. This pivotal role requires a creative culinary leader who can inspire excellence, maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation, and drive the overall success of our food and beverage operations. The Head Chef will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen management, from menu development and cost control to staff training and adherence to hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Develop and refine innovative menus that align with Malmaison's brand standards and appeal to our diverse clientele
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency are met at all times
- Manage kitchen staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Control food costs, inventory, and wastage, ensuring efficient resource management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Collaborate with the General Manager and F&B Manager to achieve financial targets and guest satisfaction goals
- Stay abreast of industry trends and culinary innovations to keep our offerings fresh and exciting
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, quality restaurant or hotel environment
- Exceptional culinary skills with a strong understanding of various cooking techniques and global cuisines
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, with a passion for developing talent
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations (HACCP)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and maintain inventory effectively
- Creative flair and a passion for crafting memorable dining experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant culinary degree or professional certification
- Experience working within a luxury boutique hotel setting
- Advanced Food Hygiene certification (e.g., Level 3)
- Familiarity with local suppliers and seasonal produce
