Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team in Blackpool. This role is crucial to ensuring the operational reliability and safety of our extensive vehicle fleet. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse range of DPD vehicles, playing a vital role in our daily operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on company vehicles, including vans, HGVs, and trailers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment.
- Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles comply with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) standards.
- Respond to breakdown calls and perform roadside assistance when necessary.
- Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and minimise vehicle downtime.
- Keep up-to-date with new vehicle technologies and repair techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic or fleet technician.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Valid driver's license (preferably Category C+E or equivalent).
- Familiarity with HGV and light commercial vehicle systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- HGV Technician qualification.
- Experience with specific diagnostic software used in commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of refrigeration units (if applicable to fleet).
- Experience working within a fast-paced logistics environment.
