Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Safety Support professional to join our Family Services Department. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in supporting social workers and case managers in their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of children within the Philadelphia community. This position involves administrative support, direct client interaction, and coordination with various stakeholders to uphold the department’s mission of protecting vulnerable youth and strengthening families. The work is hybrid, requiring presence in our Philadelphia offices and occasional field visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist social workers and case managers with administrative tasks, including documentation, scheduling, and record-keeping.
- Conduct initial screenings and gather preliminary information from families and community members.
- Coordinate service referrals and facilitate access to community resources for families.
- Provide direct support to families and children, including transportation, supervised visits, and home safety checks as directed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with departmental and legal guidelines.
- Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and other agencies to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in child welfare practices.
- Respond to inquiries from the public regarding child safety concerns and departmental services.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Commitment to child safety and family well-being.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related human services field.
- Previous experience (1+ year) in an administrative support role, preferably in a social services or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with child welfare laws, regulations, and community resources in Philadelphia.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
