Job Description

Sheridan Ross P.C. is seeking a talented and motivated Intellectual Property (IP) Attorney to join our dynamic team in Denver. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with a passion for intellectual property law, eager to contribute to a leading firm’s success. The role involves a broad range of IP activities, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, client counseling, and litigation support. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications across various technical fields.
  • Respond to Office Actions from the USPTO and international patent offices.
  • Conduct patentability, invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and non-infringement analyses.
  • Manage and counsel clients on their IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licenses, assignments, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Provide support for IP litigation matters, including discovery, legal research, and motion practice.
  • Conduct due diligence in corporate transactions involving intellectual property.
  • Stay current with developments in IP law and provide proactive advice to clients.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to a U.S. State Bar (Colorado Bar admission or eligibility to waive in is preferred, but not required to apply).
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of intellectual property law principles, particularly patent law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • USPTO registration or eligibility to become registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, chemistry).
  • Experience with foreign patent prosecution and international IP matters.
  • Experience within a law firm or in-house legal department focusing on IP.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
