Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) Clinician to join our Professional Health Support team on an ongoing, full-time basis. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and support services to individuals experiencing challenges related to alcohol and other drug use. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care, promoting recovery, harm reduction, and improved well-being for our clients. This position requires a professional with strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and AOD assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based interventions including counselling, group therapy, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, families, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records in accordance with organisational policies.
- Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Advocate for clients and facilitate referrals to appropriate support services.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the service.
Required Skills
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant health discipline (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy).
- Current registration with relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW) if applicable.
- Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years in providing AOD assessment, counselling, and intervention services.
- Knowledge of contemporary AOD models of care, harm reduction principles, and recovery-oriented practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualifications in AOD, Mental Health, or related fields.
- Experience working with diverse client populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems.
- Experience in clinical supervision or mentoring.
