Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Qualified Butcher to join our Supermarket Fleet in North Lakes. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your butchery expertise within a dynamic retail environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of meat preparation, presentation, and customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute expert meat cutting, trimming, and preparation according to Coles standards and customer specifications.
  • Maintain immaculate hygiene and sanitation practices within the meat department, adhering strictly to food safety regulations.
  • Ensure effective stock rotation, inventory management, and minimise waste.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, offering advice on cuts, cooking methods, and special requests.
  • Prepare and display meat products attractively to maximise sales and appeal.
  • Operate and maintain butchery equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of fresh meat.
  • Collaborate with the store management team to achieve sales targets and operational excellence.

Required Skills

  • Formal qualification as a Butcher (e.g., Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher)).
  • Proven experience in a high-volume butchery or supermarket meat department.
  • Exceptional knife skills and precision cutting techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of various meat cuts, preparation methods, and food safety standards.
  • Strong commitment to hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large retail supermarket operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or train junior staff.
  • Food Safety Supervisor certificate.
