Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Workers Compensation Claims Assistant to join our dedicated team within Black Hawk County’s Administrative Services. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to our Workers Compensation Claims Specialists, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of claims for public sector employees. This position is crucial in maintaining compliance with state regulations and internal policies, helping our employees navigate the claims process, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our risk management department. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Claims Specialists with all aspects of workers' compensation claim processing, from initial report to closure.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim files, both electronic and physical, ensuring proper documentation and confidentiality.
  • Communicate professionally with employees, medical providers, and legal representatives to gather necessary information and provide status updates.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and hearings for claims specialists as required.
  • Prepare and process correspondence, forms, and reports related to workers' compensation claims.
  • Monitor claim deadlines and follow up on outstanding information or actions.
  • Assist with data entry and maintenance in the claims management system.
  • Support compliance efforts by ensuring all activities adhere to state and federal workers' compensation laws and county policies.
  • Handle incoming calls and emails, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including filing, scanning, and photocopying.
