Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Workers Compensation Claims Assistant to join our team in Southaven, MS, supporting our public sector clients. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of workers’ compensation claims by providing comprehensive administrative support to Claims Adjusters. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills and a desire to contribute to a critical service function within a leading risk management firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Claims Adjusters with the initial setup and ongoing maintenance of claim files.
- Enter and update claim data accurately into the claims management system.
- Communicate with claimants, employers, medical providers, and attorneys to gather necessary information and provide updates under the direction of an Adjuster.
- Prepare and process various claims-related correspondence, forms, and documents.
- Manage calendars and schedules for adjusters, including scheduling appointments and hearings.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical claim files, ensuring all documentation is current and easily accessible.
- Process medical bills and invoices, ensuring proper authorization and payment.
- Generate reports and retrieve data as requested by adjusters or management.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the claims department.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of administrative or office support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or some college coursework.
- Prior experience in a claims, insurance, or legal office environment.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation laws and terminology.
