Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wind Turbine Technician or Engineer to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth, Hampshire. This crucial on-site role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of wind turbine systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. You will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our renewable energy assets, contributing directly to our mission of delivering sustainable energy solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various wind turbine components.
  • Execute comprehensive diagnostic tests and troubleshoot complex issues to identify root causes of malfunctions.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and corrective actions to ensure maximum operational efficiency and reliability of turbines.
  • Adhere rigorously to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies at all times, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed reports on all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts replaced.
  • Collaborate effectively with site managers, other technicians, and engineers to optimize turbine performance and minimise downtime.
  • Participate actively in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with evolving industry best practices, technologies, and safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in wind turbine maintenance, or a closely related electrical or mechanical engineering field.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems inherent in wind turbines.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic abilities.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Possession of a valid UK driving license or equivalent, with the ability to obtain a UK license.
  • Eligibility and willingness to be sponsored for a UK work visa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certifications, including Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, and Sea Survival.
  • A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Technology, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Specific experience with major turbine manufacturers such as Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE Renewable Energy, or Nordex.
  • Previous hands-on experience working in an offshore wind farm environment.
