Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Water Damage Carpet Extractor to join our on-call emergency response team. This entry-level position is crucial for our water damage restoration efforts, focusing on the immediate removal of water from carpets and flooring using wet vacuums and extraction equipment. The ideal candidate will be ready to respond to emergency calls, often outside of regular business hours, to mitigate water damage rapidly. Full training will be provided to ensure you are proficient with our equipment and restoration techniques. This role requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency water damage calls, often on short notice.
  • Operate wet vacuums, portable extractors, and other specialized equipment to remove standing water from carpets, flooring, and affected areas.
  • Assist with the setup and dismantling of drying equipment such as air movers and dehumidifiers.
  • Perform careful demolition and removal of damaged materials (e.g., drywall, baseboards) as directed.
  • Clean and sanitize affected areas to prevent mold growth and further contamination.
  • Document job site conditions, equipment usage, and work performed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, ensuring it is ready for the next job.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including those with water, debris, and varying temperatures.
  • Availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable transportation to and from our facility in Duncan, BC.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Basic communication skills (written and verbal in English).
  • Punctual and dependable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or construction.
  • Familiarity with water damage restoration processes or equipment (IICRC certification a plus, but not required for this entry-level role).
