Job Description

Join Coastal Heritage Wineries as a Viticulture & Oenology Intern and gain invaluable experience in the complete lifecycle of vineyard operations and winemaking. This hands-on internship provides a comprehensive overview of viticulture techniques, harvest operations, and initial cellar processes, perfect for students or recent graduates passionate about the wine industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily vineyard tasks, including pruning, canopy management, and pest/disease monitoring.
  • Participate in harvest activities, including grape picking, sorting, and processing.
  • Support cellar operations, such as crushing, pressing, fermentation monitoring, and basic sanitation.
  • Collect and analyze vineyard data, including soil samples, weather patterns, and grape maturity.
  • Maintain vineyard and winery equipment, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
  • Learn about sustainable viticulture practices and their implementation.
  • Contribute to general vineyard and winery maintenance as needed.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Viticulture, Oenology, Horticulture, or related agricultural science program.
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute to a vineyard/winery environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in agriculture, farming, or a related outdoor work environment.
  • Basic understanding of plant science or chemistry.
  • Proficiency with common vineyard tools and equipment.
