Job Description
As a Virtual Website Accessibility Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our digital products are usable by individuals with disabilities. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere. We’re looking for individuals who have personal experience using screen readers and are passionate about digital accessibility. You will identify accessibility barriers and provide actionable feedback to our development teams, contributing to a more inclusive online experience for all users.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct manual accessibility testing of websites, web applications, and digital content using various assistive technologies, primarily screen readers.
- Identify and document accessibility issues based on WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
- Provide clear, concise, and actionable feedback to development and design teams.
- Collaborate with product teams to understand new features and ensure accessibility is considered from the outset.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Participate in accessibility training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
Required Skills
- Familiarity with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 AA.
- Demonstrable personal experience using screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Narrator).
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle accessibility issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a testing or QA role.
- Familiarity with other assistive technologies (e.g., keyboard-only navigation, voice control).
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe DevTools, WAVE).
- Understanding of JavaScript.
- Knowledge of different disability types and their impact on web interaction.
