Job Description
We are seeking passionate individuals with experience using screen readers for personal use to join our growing team as Virtual Website Accessibility Testers. In this 100% remote role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our digital products are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We provide comprehensive training on web accessibility standards (WCAG) and testing methodologies. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct manual accessibility testing of websites and web applications using various screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and other assistive technologies.
- Identify accessibility barriers and non-compliance with WCAG guidelines.
- Document accessibility issues clearly and concisely, including steps to reproduce and expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with development and design teams to explain findings and recommend solutions.
- Participate in training sessions to continuously improve your knowledge of accessibility standards and testing techniques.
- Provide feedback on the user experience from an assistive technology perspective.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated personal experience with screen reader software (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Narrator) for web browsing and interaction.
- Basic understanding of how websites are structured (e.g., links, headings, forms).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet home office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 or 2.2).
- Experience with other assistive technologies or accessibility testing tools.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Prior experience in any form of quality assurance or testing.
- Certifications in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS).
