Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Urology Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team in Winnipeg. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to provide specialized care to patients with urological conditions. The successful candidate will play a critical role in patient assessment, treatment planning, education, and ongoing support, working collaboratively with urologists and other healthcare professionals. This position involves managing a caseload of patients, both in an outpatient clinic setting and supporting inpatient services, ensuring the highest standards of evidence-based care. With a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) available, we welcome qualified international applicants to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with various urological conditions, including prostate, bladder, and kidney issues.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with urologists and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialized nursing care, including catheter management, stoma care, bladder instillation, and wound care.
- Educate patients and their families on urological conditions, treatment options, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
- Monitor patient progress, interpret diagnostic tests, and make appropriate adjustments to care plans as needed.
- Act as a primary resource for patients, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their treatment journey.
- Participate in clinic operations, including scheduling, documentation, and maintaining patient records.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of urology nursing protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient transitions and coordinated care.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with relevant provincial regulatory body (or eligibility to obtain).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in urology or a related specialty area.
- Demonstrated expertise in urological assessment, diagnostics, and treatment modalities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's degree in Nursing.
- Certification in Urology Nursing (e.g., CURN, NUCA).
- Experience with advanced urological procedures and technologies.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
