Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Urban Planner / Town Planner to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on urban development trends, demographic data, and environmental factors.
- Prepare and review land use plans, zoning ordinances, development applications, and policy recommendations.
- Engage with community stakeholders, public officials, and project teams through meetings, workshops, and presentations.
- Develop and implement planning strategies that address growth management, infrastructure needs, and sustainable practices.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning software for spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualization.
- Ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal planning regulations and environmental standards.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications, environmental impact statements, and other planning documents.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, collaborating with engineers, architects, and environmental scientists.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, City Planning, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in urban planning, land use planning, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of land use principles, zoning regulations, and comprehensive planning processes.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for mapping, analysis, and data management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex planning concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research, analyze data, and formulate strategic recommendations.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification or actively pursuing certification.
- Experience with public outreach, community engagement, and stakeholder facilitation.
- Familiarity with planning policies and development challenges within the Greater Boston area.
- Knowledge of urban design principles, sustainable development, and smart growth strategies.
