Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Milwaukee. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and efficient telecommunications network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, hardware, and software, and be committed to ensuring high network availability and performance. This position offers sponsorship support for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and install telecommunications network equipment including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of network systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and improve existing infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure network security and compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical network support and incident response.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
  • Proficiency with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Nokia).
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Familiarity with network security principles and practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with fiber optic networks and optical transport technologies (DWDM, SONET).
  • Knowledge of cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline.
