Job Description

Are you passionate about clear communication and eager to learn the ropes of technical documentation in a dynamic software environment? As a Technical Writing & Documentation Intern at SAP Labs Canada, you will play a crucial role in supporting our development teams by creating and maintaining high-quality user manuals, guides, and other technical content for our cutting-edge software products. This entry-level internship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your writing skills, learn industry best practices, and gain hands-on experience with complex software documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and online help content for software products.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Learn to use documentation tools and content management systems to publish and maintain documentation.
  • Contribute to the review process, incorporating feedback from stakeholders to improve clarity and usability.
  • Help maintain documentation standards and style guides.
  • Research and analyze technical information to create clear, concise, and accurate content for various audiences.
  • Support the documentation team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread effectively.
  • Basic understanding of software concepts and terminology (no prior coding experience required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to learn new software tools and processes quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Some familiarity with content management systems (CMS) or documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, GitHub, MadCap Flare) is a plus but not required.
  • Basic understanding of HTML or markdown is beneficial.
