Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Joondalup. This is a field-based role crucial for supporting various civil infrastructure projects across the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate survey data, setting out, and verifying construction works, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of precision and quality. A company vehicle and laptop will be provided to facilitate your field-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys for civil engineering and construction projects.
- Operate and maintain a range of surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, and levels.
- Perform accurate set-out of points, lines, and levels for earthworks, roads, utilities, and other infrastructure.
- Record, process, and analyze survey data using relevant software.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Verify the accuracy of constructed elements against design specifications.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, plans, and documentation.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with safety standards and project methodologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve surveying challenges on-site.
Required Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience as a Civil Surveyor.
- Proficiency in operating modern surveying instruments (GPS, Total Stations, Digital Levels).
- Experience with surveying software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar.
- Strong understanding of survey principles, methodologies, and calculations.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership with a professional surveying body (e.g., Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute – SSSI).
- Experience in large-scale road, rail, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with various types of survey control networks.
- Basic First Aid certification.
