Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Surgical Instrument Sterilization Tech to join our hospital’s back-office team in Atlanta. This crucial role is responsible for the meticulous cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety are met. You will work within a fast-paced environment, requiring exceptional attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols. Full training will be provided to ensure competency in all required procedures and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, sterilize, and assemble surgical instruments and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, washers, and sonic cleaners.
- Perform quality control checks on sterilized instruments and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and instrument inventory.
- Inspect instruments for functionality and damage, reporting issues to supervisors.
- Prepare surgical trays and kits for various surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control and safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous waste materials safely.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous work ethic.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and protocols.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting (e.g., environmental services, supply chain).
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CSPDT, CBSPD) or willingness to obtain within a year of hire.

- Experience with various sterilization methods and equipment.
