Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate street sweeping equipment safely and efficiently across designated routes in Burnie.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on the sweeper vehicle.

  • Monitor and manage debris levels, ensuring effective collection and disposal.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and council policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of sweeping activities, including routes covered and debris collected.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational matters.

Required Skills

  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence (heavy vehicle licence preferred, or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently (previous experience with heavy vehicles an advantage but not essential).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR or HC).
  • Previous experience operating street sweeping equipment or similar heavy machinery.
  • Knowledge of Burnie's road network and local area.
