Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Transport Assistants to join our team in Aldershot. This vital role involves assisting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) during their daily journeys to and from school or other educational provisions. The role operates on a split-shift basis, typically involving morning and afternoon routes, making it an ideal opportunity for parents looking for work that fits around school hours. Full training will be provided, so direct experience in special needs transport is not required, but a caring attitude, reliability, and excellent communication skills are essential. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers, providing support as needed, and working closely with drivers and educational staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely assist children and young people with SEND on and off vehicles.
- Ensure passengers are securely seated and comfortable throughout their journey.
- Provide appropriate support and care tailored to individual passenger needs, as outlined in their care plans.
- Maintain a calm and reassuring environment within the vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, parents/carers, and school staff regarding passenger welfare and any issues.
- Respond to passenger needs and incidents in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, safeguarding procedures, and council policies.
- Complete necessary paperwork or logs accurately.
Required Skills

- A clean and current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications

- Basic First Aid certification.
