Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Special Effects (SFX) Workshop Assistant to join our dynamic team in Midtown Atlanta. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about creative fabrication and eager to learn the practical aspects of special effects within a professional studio environment. As an SFX Workshop Assistant, you will play a crucial supporting role in the creation of a wide range of props, sets, and special effects elements. You will assist senior fabricators, learn various materials and techniques, and contribute to maintaining an organized and safe workspace. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone with a strong work ethic, manual dexterity, and a desire to build a career in the fabrication and entertainment industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior fabricators with material preparation, including cutting, sanding, and assembling various components.
  • Learn and apply different fabrication techniques, such as sculpting, molding, casting, painting, and finishing.
  • Prepare and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Organize and maintain the cleanliness and order of the workshop, including material storage and waste disposal.
  • Support the assembly and breakdown of props and scenic elements.
  • Assist with on-set installations and strike when required.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and studio guidelines.
  • Perform general workshop duties as assigned to support production timelines.

Required Skills

  • Manual dexterity and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong willingness and eagerness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools or a strong aptitude for learning their use.
